Steven Bogart’s intricate oil and enamel paintings invite the viewer to explore their miniscule details and interweaving strands of color.  Conglomerations of tightly bound forms and swirling bands dance in the foreground of blending color fields.  By abstracting natural elements, Bogart forms the catalyst for complex and unpredictable results to take place.  He uses his inspiration – low wave sounds, music, electricity, cable transformers, the bifurcation of tree branches and the spaces between them - to explore his fascination with the formation and occurrence of random events.

Steven Bogart (born Brooklyn, New York) was recently featured in Big Bang! Abstract Painting for the 21st Century at The DeCordova Museum.  Bogart received his BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, his MA from Emerson College and his MFA from the University of New Orleans.
